FAQs

Questions travelers usually ask before booking

Do I need a visa to travel to Japan?

Indian passport holders currently require a visa to visit Japan. The tourist visa is processed through the Embassy of Japan or authorised VFS centres and is typically straightforward. Your travel coordinator will share document requirements at time of booking.

What is the JR Pass and what does it cover?

The Japan Rail Pass (JR Pass) allows unlimited travel on most JR trains, including the Shinkansen (bullet train) lines connecting Tokyo, Hakone, Kyoto, and Osaka. It does not cover the Nozomi and Mizuho Shinkansen super-express services, but Hikari and Sakura services on the same routes are fully covered.

What is the Ryokan stay like?

A Ryokan is a traditional Japanese inn featuring tatami-mat rooms, futon bedding, yukata robes, and access to onsen (natural hot spring baths). Dinner and breakfast (kaiseki multi-course meals) are typically served in your room or a shared dining area. It is one of the most culturally immersive experiences in Japan.

Is Japan a cash-heavy destination?

Yes — many smaller restaurants, shrines, vending machines, and local shops are cash-only. Japanese ATMs at 7-Eleven and Japan Post accept international cards. We recommend carrying JPY cash alongside your card. IC cards (Suica/ICOCA) provided in this package cover all subway and local train travel.

What is the best season to visit Japan?

Spring (late March to early May) for cherry blossoms — one of the world's most spectacular natural events. Autumn (October to November) for vibrant maple foliage. Summer can be hot and humid but offers festivals. Winter is cold but serene, with fewer crowds and possible snow in Hakone and Kyoto.

Can the itinerary be customised?

Absolutely. This package is a private custom itinerary and can be adjusted — adding Hiroshima and Miyajima, extending to 10 nights, including a Nikkō day trip from Tokyo, or adding a cooking class or sake brewery tour in Kyoto.
