About the destination

Kerala, India· India

Kerala is India's emerald coast — a serene stretch of backwaters, spice plantations, and mist-covered hill stations. Houseboat cruises on Alleppey's canals, Ayurvedic wellness retreats, wildlife safaris in Periyar, and the dramatic beaches of Varkala create an itinerary that balances adventure with deep relaxation. The state's cuisine, warm locals, and lush tropical landscape make it endlessly inviting.

Itinerary

How the journey unfolds

Day by day, the route balances movement, comfort, local moments, and enough breathing room to actually enjoy the trip.

Arrive at Cochin International Airport, where your WishTrailz representative will greet you with a warm welcome. Transfer to your accommodation in Kochi and complete check-in formalities. Spend the rest of the day at leisure — explore the vibrant Fort Kochi waterfront, browse the famous antique shops, or simply unwind and soak in the coastal city's colonial charm. Overnight in Cochin.

After a hearty breakfast, check out and embark on a scenic drive to Munnar, Kerala's crown jewel in the Western Ghats. En route, stop at the spectacular Cheeyappara and Valara Waterfalls — twin cascades tumbling down the hillside that make for breathtaking photographs. As you ascend, the air cools and the landscape transforms into an endless canvas of rolling tea gardens and mist-draped peaks. On arrival in Munnar, check in and take the evening at leisure to explore the town's local markets, pick up fresh tea blends, or simply enjoy the panoramic hill views from your room. Overnight in Munnar.

Rise early and enjoy breakfast before checking out and heading to Thekkady, one of Kerala's most enchanting wildlife and spice destinations. En route, visit a working spice plantation where expert guides walk you through aromatic groves of cardamom, black pepper, cloves, and cinnamon — sharing the stories and flavours behind Kerala's legendary spice trade. On arrival in Thekkady, check in and then spend the afternoon at Elephant Junction — watch these magnificent creatures bathe, interact with them up close, and experience a unique elephant ride through the jungle trails. In the evening, be captivated by a live Kalaripayattu performance — Kerala's 3,000-year-old martial art, a breathtaking blend of acrobatics, combat techniques, and spiritual discipline. Return to your accommodation for dinner. Overnight in Thekkady.

After breakfast, check out and drive to Alleppey (Alappuzha) — Kerala's legendary backwater town, often called the 'Venice of the East'. Arrive and check in. Spend the afternoon exploring the town's network of serene canals, watching traditional country boats drift past swaying coconut palms. The tranquil backwater setting is perfect for a leisurely evening stroll along the promenade or sampling fresh Kerala seafood at a local eatery. Overnight in Alleppey.

Enjoy a final breakfast and check out of your accommodation. Your driver will transfer you to the nearest airport or railway station for your onward journey. Take home the flavours of fresh spices, the sounds of the Kalaripayattu drumbeats, and the quiet magic of Kerala's backwaters. Until we meet again — safe travels!
